New Voices for Reproductive Justice (NVRJ) is a social change organization dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women, femmes, girls, and folx. New Voices was founded in March 2004 and currently operates across Pennsylvania and Ohio with offices in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. The New Voices vision is to expand the Reproductive Justice movement, which is rooted in the fundamental Human Right of us all to control our bodies, across the Rust Belt and Mid-Atlantic regions.  As part of this expansion, we are recruiting for the position of:

The Voice Your Vote! Project <sup>TM</sup> (VYV) Organizer is a member of the VYV Team and is responsible for providing key leadership in implementing our voter engagement program in Pennsylvania and/or Ohio to build power among Black women, femmes, girls and folx who are either unregistered or infrequent voters. The VYV Organizer is key in connecting, this voter base to the local and the national Reproductive Justice movement.  This position requires an outgoing, goal-focused experienced self-starter with a professional background in voter engagement, community organizing and/or leadership development.  A background in social justice, women’s rights and/or Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice is key for this role. The VYV Organizer mobilizes Black people of all genders and backgrounds, builds organizational visibility and is dedicated to the health and well-being of those we serve in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Cleveland.  The applicant will represent interests of New Voices for Reproductive Justice and our constituents in various settings through voter engagement coalitions, partnerships and alliances and will be required to travel as needed.



  • Works with New Voices for Reproductive Justice and New Voices Action, our 501c4 to co-organize lobbying efforts, rapid response mobilization and integrated voter engagement.
  • Maintains community organizing data & information for grant reporting and tracking our organizational impact.
  • Develops and implements base-building strategies in conjunction with other programs
  • Implements Integrated Voter Engagement programs through the VYV Project consisting of civic engagement activities including outreach, recruitment, training, program planning, materials development, event coordination and transportation logistics.
  • Outreaches to our constituents, organizations and stakeholders.
  • Directs voter registration, voter education and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities.
  • Maintains New Voices Pittsburgh databases such as Voter Activation Network, and NationBuilder
  • Strategizes with all New Voices Community partners to coordinate activism.
  • Builds and participates in Integrated Voter Engagement coalitions.
  • Recruits, coordinates and supervises interns and volunteers.
  • Assists interested individuals with the membership process and answering general inquiries.




  • A Bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies, Community Organizing and Advocacy, Cultural Studies, Environmental Studies, Non-Profit Administration, Political Science, Public Administration, Queer Studies, Social Work, Urban Studies and/or Women's Studies or an equivalent combination of education and experience in community organizer and voter engagement
  • Experience in Community Organizing, Activism, Reproductive Justice, Voter Engagement, Public Policy Advocacy, Human Rights, Leadership Development, Black Women's Health and Social Justice
  • Experience in working in non-profit, community-based and/or advocacy organization
  • Desire to create social, economic and political opportunities for Black women and girls
  • Possession or desire to gain excellent oral and written communications
  • Demonstrate discipline and motivation in completing designated projects.
  • Exhibit ability to work independently and excellent time management skills
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly experience with database program such as EveryAction
  • Experience leading successful community organizing campaigns and experience working with the Voter Activation Network (VAN) or other voter database programs preferred
  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred.

  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and speaking to the media as needed; basic oral, written and presentation skills coupled with experience in relationship-building and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to effectively discuss Reproductive Justice and the health and well-being of Black women, femmes girls & folx with diverse audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial, results-driven, energetic, and able to maintain grace under fire.
  • Demonstrates discipline and motivation in completing designated projects.
  • Exhibits the ability to work independently and excellent time management skills.
  • Be reliable, organized and able to multitask
  • Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, optimism, positivity, and the ability to inspire others to engage with New Voices for Reproductive Justice.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision and values of New Voices Pittsburgh
  • Ability to work with a diverse continuum of Black women and girls and people of color including but not limited to ability, age, education, familial status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, immigrant status, incarceration status, race, sex, sexual orientation and socioeconomic status
