New Voices for Reproductive Justice (New Voices) is a leader in the Reproductive Justice movement. With nearly two decades of experience in identity-based and issue-based leadership development, community engagement and organizing, and state and federal-level policy advocacy, New Voices is the first Reproductive Justice organization in Pennsylvania and the first and only in Ohio. Our mission is to support and build power for and alongside Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people through leadership development, community care, resourcing, and mutual aid. Our work is firmly rooted in the Reproductive Justice framework, and our programming reflects our mission, focusing on core issues, including voter engagement, abortion access, and environmental justice. 

 

About the Role:

The Human Resources Generalist will administer human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs. The Human Resources Generalist will promote equity, fair treatment, positive employee relations, and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws. Provides comprehensive HR support in the areas of recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, employee relations, continuous performance coaching and management, pro-active problem identification and resolution. The Human Resources Generalist understands and supports the accomplishment of business priorities and builds credible internal relationships which allows for better decisions and organizational effectiveness. The Senior Human Resources Generalist will be involved in solving complex HR-related issues. The Human Resources Generalist may serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience. There is a high focus on employee engagement, benefits administration, compensation, recruitment, talent management and conflict resolution paired with an opportunity for developing and refining systems. 

 

What we are looking for:

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand New Voices’ goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.  

  • Oversees, refines, and executes employee standards and procedures, using and improving existing and recommended HR systems and processes.

  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support New Voices’ needs.

  • Oversees the administration of human resources programs including, but not limited to, compensation and benefits; employee relations; investigations; performance and talent management; recognition:  occupational health and safety.

  • Works internally to plan and coordinate training and development programs that will support professional development and ensure compliance needs are met.

  • Executes best practices for talent acquisition and talent management.

  • Performs advanced employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding personnel and job-related conflicts, problem solving and dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review and assessment of termination requests; conduct exit interviews. 

  • Handles workers compensation, first report of injury database and safety regulations process. 

  • Conducts open enrollment and other benefits related programs as needed. 

  • Maintains employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements. 

  • Monitors and ensures New Voices’ compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.  Recommends best practices and reviews and modifies policies and practices.

 

What you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • At least five years of progressive human resources experience required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills paired with a strong background in project management and driving to outcomes.   

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Experience with benefits programs, HRIS and ATS
