About Us:

New Voices for Reproductive Justice (New Voices) is a leader in the Reproductive Justice movement. With nearly two decades of experience in identity-based and issue-based leadership development, community engagement and organizing, and state and federal-level policy advocacy, New Voices is the first Reproductive Justice organization in Pennsylvania and the first and only in Ohio. Our mission is to support and build power for and alongside Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people through leadership development, community care, resourcing, and mutual aid. Our work is firmly rooted in the Reproductive Justice framework, and our programming reflects our mission, focusing on core issues, including voter engagement, abortion access, and environmental justice. 

 

About the Role: 

The Integrated Voter Engagement (IVE) Community Outreach Coordinator is a member of the IVE Team and is responsible for providing key leadership in implementing our voter engagement program in Pennsylvania to build power among Black women, queer folks, and marginalized individuals who are either unregistered or infrequent voters. The IVE Community Outreach Coordinator is key in connecting this voter base to the local and national  Reproductive Justice movement.

This position requires an outgoing, experienced, results-driven self-starter with a professional background in voter engagement, community organizing, and/or leadership development. A background in social justice, racial justice, and/or Reproductive Justice or Health is key for this role. The IVE Community Outreach Coordinator mobilizes Black people of all genders and backgrounds, builds organizational visibility, and is dedicated to the health and well-being of those we serve in Pittsburgh. The selected candidate will represent the interests of New Voices and our constituents in various settings through voter engagement coalitions, partnerships, and alliances and will be required to travel as needed to support the goals of the organization.

 

What we are looking for: 

  • Maintain community organizing data & information for grant reporting and tracking our organizational impact. 

  • Develop and implement base-building strategies in conjunction with other programs.  

  • Implement integrated voter engagement programs through the IVE Project consisting of civic engagement activities, including outreach, recruitment, training, program planning, materials development, event coordination, and transportation logistics.  

  • Outreach to our constituents, organizations, and stakeholders.  

  • Direct voter registration, voter education, and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities.  

  • Maintain New Voices IVE databases such as Voter Activation Network and Bloomerang. 

  • Strategize with all New Voices Community partners to coordinate activism.  

  • Build and participate in Integrated Voter Engagement coalitions.

  • Recruit, coordinate, and supervise canvassers and volunteers.  

  • Manage a team of 5 - 12 part-time seasonal workers on a 52-week calendar year program execution plan including but not limited to General Special and Primary Elections. 

  • Conduct regular team meetings with direct reports in an effort to connect part-time staff with the work being done at New Voices. 

  • Maintain regular schedule oversight to ensure that part-time staff are maintaining 15-25 hours of  community engagement via telephone banking, community canvassing, door canvassing, and voter registration efforts 

 

What you should have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in community organizing and voter engagement is preferred.

  • Experience in Community Organizing, Activism, Reproductive Justice, Voter Engagement, Public  Policy Advocacy, Human Rights, Leadership Development, Black Women's Health, and Social  Justice  

  • 1-3 years Experience in the Voter Engagement Space

  • Desire to create social, economic, and political opportunities for Black women and girls  

  • Demonstrate discipline and motivation in completing designated projects. 

  • Exhibit ability to work independently and excellent time management skills  

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends  

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, particularly experience with database programs such as EveryAction or Bloomerang  

  • Experience leading successful community organizing campaigns and experience working with the  Voter Activation Network (VAN) or other voter database programs preferred 

  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
